Born on Dec. 29, 1974
From 1990 until 1993 I was trained to be a mason with the ‘Haberlander & Hofmann
GmbH & Co. KG’ in Waging am See/ Germany. Waging am See
is located about 120km south-east of Munich and 30km west of Salzburg
in Austria. In 1994 I was 2nd winner in a state-wide competition
of the Bavarian Chamber of Trade. My former employer describes
me as a “hard-working, cooperative and merited colleague,
who stands out through his substantial know-how and strong commitment
towards work”.
In 2000 I graduated from the Technical Masterschool (‘Meister-
und Technikerschule’) in Munich as a Master Builder (‘Maurermeister’).
In 2001 I gained the qualification as a CAD specialist for the
construction industry (‘CAD Fachkraft Bau’). In the
same year I started my own business in construction of vaults and
masonry.
Already during my time as a mason trainee, the construction of
vaults has been a great passion of mine and I was oftentimes deployed
to work on projects which included the construction of vaults.
Additionally, I acquired extensive knowledge in preservation of
listed buildings and historic craft techniques.
I find it fascinating to combine many little steps in order to
create a piece of art. That way, building a vault is like laying
a mosaic. The single pieces left alone do not represent a great
deal, but put together they add up to a delightful, aesthetic lot.
My craft is exciting and inspiring for me and I often visit historic
buildings in order to gain new stimulation and ideas.
In private, I like to spend time with creative work, too. I like
to work with black plate and metal and to create artefacts from
welded metal. One could say, I am interested in everything which
involves shapes, curves and motion. However, it is something basically
different to work with metal as compared to the work with stone.
The work with metal is of a more filigree nature, but nevertheless
I believe that those two materials reflect each other.
In my spare time I often practise sports; my hobbies are snowboarding,
biking and mountaineering. It is very important for me to spend
time in the great outdoors, my second great passion besides work.
